Wine & Tapas (Spain)
Holy crap it’s finally here! This is one of the most beloved places I’ve ever been to. I cannot even to begin to describe all the magic that takes place in España. If you’re a European, Legend of Zorro, Sunshine Coast loving person, this is the place for you. Endless wine…..
LITERALLY.
Like every single night people out on the terrace and in the streets sipping wine and enjoying the moments of the day. Spain is one of those countries that has a siesta in the middle of the day. A giant nap where shops close down so everyone can rest. I mean who doesn’t love a good work life balance? I fell in LOVE with this place when I first heard about it at 19 years old from friends of mine. Then when I hopped of the plane, it was instant love at first sight.
So I would just love to start with some recommendations. I have not been everywhere and other avid Spain travelers can definitely give better advice but I will just share what I know and love. First stop, Madrid.
I spent about 6 hours here walking the streets and stretching my legs after the 9 hour flight from Chicago and that was perfect for me. I am more of a country girl but honestly just wanted to be like the Cheeta Girls in the city for a day. I didn’t get to Barcelona this trip but this was good enough for me. I researched the best places to walk and purchased some temporary luggage storage at the airport. My first stop was obviously for churros and chocolate! Then I headed to some churches and finally the beautiful Estanque Grande del Retiro.
NEXT…
Mijas, Pueblo. I’ll probably struggle with finding the right words for this place because it’s honestly where I spend most of my time when I go to Spain. My friends live there and it seriously feels like home in a way. There’s just something in the air that invites you to literally inhale SO deeply. The cliffs, the whitewashed buildings, the donkey taxi’s, salsa dancing, and of course WINE & TAPAS. We don’t even eat until 10pm sometimes because we are truly just LIVING IN THE MOMENT. I cannot even handle how romantic this place is. I often day dream of it on a hard day at work lol. So I’ll just shut up and show you the pics…..
AND FINALLY…
Marbella! I think my friend called this the Beverly Hills of Spain and she was not kidding! This place is SO bougie and dreamy! Perfect palm trees, white stone paths, and one of the best oat milk lattes I’ve ever had. Maybe it was because one of my favorite songs was playing right when we walked in the cafe, or maybe it was the sparkling poolside, but this place was just so freaking gorgeous. I thought I was in a 1950’s, old Hollywood fairytale. #swoon.
I think there’s been enough said. Book a flight to Spain for the mediterranean trip of your dreams.
Soon I will post a blog about how to travel as a single woman or just a person alone and safety tips. I’ll share how I get around new cities and honestly feel like a boss doing it. As long as you can create margin for mistakes and delays, anyone can travel the world.
I hope you feel inspired to go explore this beautiful world,
Nos Vemos!
